Mexico - Fine - Calcium - bla
Talk about unoriginal names for places in Upstate NY. I just got back from an ah'some camping trip up in the Adriondacks and drove through the towns of Fine,NY and Mexico,NY and also through the village of Calcium,NY. Rudy, a friend of mine at work has a camp up in the town of Fine,NY. I got to the gate of the camp which was at the end of a dirt road a mile from Route 3 at around 8.15 p.m. on Friday night. The gate was locked. Rudy & Co. were supposed to drive down from the camp and open the gate at 8.30. They didn't show. I waited an hour and had given up. I even climbed over the gate and started walking, until I heard a sound in the woods( it was scaringly pitch dark) and remembered that Rudy had mentioned black bears being seen in the recent past. I concluded that the 3 mile walk up to the camp probably wasn't a great idea. All I had was a flash light which would probably attract everything from a squirel to a bear toward me. I walked back 5 mins to the car, jumped over the gate and got back into the car. It was almost 10.15 p.m. now and just as I turned back to leave, I saw the headlights of Mike's(another freind at work) car pull up. After some cussing and laughs, I drove what turned out to be a 4 mile drive into the heart of the camp. The drive felt like I was driving to the center of the earth.

All in all...I had a great time.

I shot a gun for the first time in my life .We had a little tournament in which we had to aim at a target 50 yards away and also, did the clay pigeon thingie(still don't know what its called) :). I sucked at the shooting, but my first shot from a real gun felt great.

I also eliminated 9 whiteboys in the poker tournament to win the Poker tournament on Saturday night. I think I surprised myself more than the others by pulling off a cool and calm win over more experienced players.

I also learnt how to fish. Fishing all by myself on a boat in the middle of a huge pond( what I would think more of as a lake) was the highlight of my trip. Actually getting the boat to move and move in the direction that I wanted it too is another story, but I know for sure that I can row a boat and even cruise around in a canoe.

The campsite was a picturesque wooden home on the foot of this lake.It was equiped with everything you could ask for, right from a bath to 6 queen size matresses on bunks in 3 rooms, to a microwave to a generator, etc. We were 14 of us up there and a dog and suppossedly some fish in the lake which were sneaky enough to grab the live bait off of the hook but were too wussy to even send a ripple into the water to declare any form of existance. There was a fishing contest too, with the winner catching 3 fish and the largest was 17 inches long.

Great food, lots of beer, gatorade, beer, water and beer kept us occupied between the different contests that Rudy & Co. had organised for the trip.

Pictures of this trip can be accessed here

I also had an interesting Thursday. I got my car fixed(finally), receieved my passport(with the FRIGGIN PORTOGUESE VISA <<<<<< Lisboa, mai aaaya re...), ran a 3.5 mile JP Morgan race.( I was 1 of 9800 people ..I walked for 5 mins:( but completed the race in a not so fast enough 34 mins)and also played soccer after the race, cos you only live once and one can only meaningfully play football for so long......Its like since football is my religion....I'm gonna put up a sign saying "Bhoju is coming, " just like the gazzilion "Jesus is coming, Are you ready??" signs I saw on my 4 hour drive back home from the Adriondacks.

Its time to call it a night for me. I slept all of two hours last night after some co-worker chess action all night.

viva lisboa...ciao;)
